Embodiment Project and Dance Mission Theater present…

Belly of the Whale 2027

BELLY OF THE WHALE:

THE FOURTH STOMACH CHAMBER

January 29–31 & February 5–7, 2027

Dance Mission Theater · San Francisco

Embodiment Project’s acclaimed Belly of the Whale returns to San Francisco for a limited two-weekend engagement.

A bold multidisciplinary work that bridges street dance and dance theater, Belly of the Whale combines virtuosic hip-hop and house dance, live music, spoken word, comedy, documentary theater, mask art, interactive media, and butoh to explore accountability, belonging, transformation, and the possibility of Revolutionary Love.

Inspired by the ancient story of Jonah and the Whale, the work asks what it means to confront the ways we discard one another—and what might happen when we choose to stay, listen, and transform together.
